About us

Our Strategy: Delivering on Our Mission

At Bayer, our mission is straightforward: Health for all, Hunger for none. Our work is focused on addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges—from a growing and aging population to the strain on our planet’s ecosystems. To accelerate our impact, we are transforming how we work through Dynamic Shared Ownership and AI—reducing hierarchy, enabling faster decisions, and delivering greater value for customers and society.

As the world’s population grows and ages, access to better healthcare and sufficient food becomes increasingly critical. Through innovation in health and agriculture, we help improve lives and support a more sustainable future.

Our efforts are focused on:

  • Advancing health by preventing, alleviating, and treating diseases.
  • Strengthening food security through a reliable supply of high-quality food, feed, and plant-based raw materials.
  • Expanding access to health and nutrition while reducing the environmental footprint of our operations and agriculture.

Through innovation, digitalization, and AI, we create sustainable value for customers, employees, shareholders, and society. We foster a culture where people can grow, innovate, and thrive while continuously evolving our strategy to stay agile in a rapidly changing world.

Strategy and Financial Update

Bayer CEO Bill Anderson shares an overview of where Bayer stands at the half-year mark – in 90 seconds.

Our Strategic Priorities

At the Capital Markets Day 2024 CEO Bill Anderson outlined several priorities that the company is addressing.

  1. Pharma Pipeline Development:
We are committed to driving breakthrough innovations for patients facing high unmet medical needs. Our pharma pipeline is central to our strategy, enabling us to bring innovative treatments to market that improve health outcomes globally.
  2. Strengthening our financial position:
We are focused on lowering debt levels, allowing us to invest more in innovation and regain flexibility. We strive to be a reliable partner in the financial markets.

  3. Litigation Management
Bayer is pursuing several measures to manage and mitigate the risks of Roundup™ litigation in the U.S. Based on decades of science and worldwide regulatory assessments that continue to support Roundup’s safety and non-carcinogenicity, we are confident that we can bring this litigation to an end. We are also managing and mitigating the U.S. PCB litigation risk.

  4. Crop Science Profitability (added to list end of 2024):
We aim to boost the profitability of our Crop Science division by developing sustainable agricultural solutions that support farmers and contribute to global food security. Regenerative agriculture forms our vision for the future of farming. Bayer aims to launch ten blockbuster products in the next ten years to support farmers worldwide.

  5. Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO):
We have reimagined our entire operating model to ensure that our mission remains at the heart of everything we do.  DSO fosters collaboration and shared accountability, empowering our teams to innovate and respond effectively to global challenges. This model enables us to deliver faster and more impactful solutions for farmers, patients, and consumers.
